-THE
STORY BEHIND SHOWRESTLING-
October, 31. 2001… it was a day when the world was introduced to something new -
something that it would never understand, or ever be satisfied with. A company
in which was sabotaged for being something, different. The company was none
other than SHOWrestling. It was an upstart promotion that was destined for
success. However, it had a lot thrown its way.
The promotion suffered a lot during it buildup. It started off with two best
friends who were in the pluming business. Both thought that they could be
something one day. Both had hopes and dreams just as any other human being on
the planet earth does. However, unlike the other 5,999,999,998 people in the
world, these two actually achieved their hopes and dreams. Who were these
people? They were the owners of KoNing and Tern Pluming Co. in Las Vegas, NV.
What were their dreams? Running their own wrestling company.
After paying $50 a piece for lottery tickets, KoNing bought $100 worth of
tickets. One actually struck big and won the pair the sum of $98.2 mil. However,
after learning the news, KoNing never told Tern about the win. Tern didn’t hear
from or see KoNing over a month. However, via the nifty invention of the
internet, Tern tracked KoNing down and confronted him.
By that time KoNing was all ready in the process of building what would be
SHOWrestling. KoNing finally gave in and let Tern in on the promotion. The
hatred for one another became one of the biggest mistakes in SHOW, as kayfabe
was broken left and right during events. The two just could stand each other any
more.
Things were looking to be very good. However, the television provider, FOX
caused SHOWrestling its biggest mistake. During the first STATIC, FOX forced the
show to end in a really unprofessional manner. Internet columnist quickly threw
out “SHOW has terrible matches,” one even called the promotion, “Mediocre.”
After a nice three month reign, SHOW’s world collapsed as it was found out that
the company was bankrupt. Six months later, it was discovered that the reason
for the strange
bankruptcy was due to the ringside announcers Bill Yeager and Ryan Harms.
They had been robbing SHOWrestling blind for months.
KoNing agreed to leave the promotion after the first month. That left Tern
running the company. When the company was forced to file bankruptcy in 2002, he
made the decision for the promotion to go on a
hiatus, one that would last for six months until he was found selling
drugs on the streets. His idea was to take a break and earn enough money to
start the promotion again. However, it was not to be.
John Fiktshon, the company’s former storywriter and booker, then bought the
trademarks, copyrights and all such material of the former promotion. However,
he was found dead in his car after a suspected mob shoot out in New York City.
On January 1st, 2004, the duo that had caused all of the turmoil for SHOW in the
first place, Bill and Ryan, reopened the promotion under their own vision. After
a month's worth of programming out of the way, they decided to take a different
turn with the company. They bought the rights to the former underground fighting
promotion, The Fighting Zone. With this, they decided to make SHOWrestling a
hybrid promotion, booking both wrestling and fighting bouts.
The fans lost interest almost immediately. SHOW had lost their television and
Pay-Per-View deals nationwide after there was a murder backstage at what was
their final Pay-Per-View. The murder is still deemed as unsolved to this day.
As it turned out, Bill and Ryan were involved heavily with the mafia in New York
City. Although all charges had been dropped. Ryan had to fake his own death in
order to save himself from any backlash he may receive when the duo had agreed
to testify against the family they were involved with. Eventually, the entire
mob organization was brought to justice, leaving both Ryan and Bill with a clean
slate.
With Bill starting his own production company with a few major titles on the
way, Ryan is now the sole owner of SHOWrestling.
